Long Long Time

It’s been really really long since I have last written something, few things to blame ( always eadier to blame ) :-

1. Work at my site is extremeeeely slow

I just dont understand what to do, I literally do anything & everything possible to complete the work, but still it just does not go on the same speed… I have tried everything I know and now I dunno where to look for answers :(

2. Facebook

I recently spend more time on FB than on this blog..

3. Videos

There is less to learn & write and more to watch from them, so now I have very nice collection of videos of Geet in various moods :) Iam sure she will cherish them when she is old enough..

Well, now I hope to get on the blog, and continue the journey :) ,,,

Mumbai Trip – Final Part

It indeed was one of the best stadiums I have come across, It was just amazing, but again you should not compare this stadium without others in India like the one in Bangalore. Common Bangalore Stadium was felt God knows how many years back and this DY Patil was a brand new one, so obviously better crowd management, better R & D have made sure each one has a nice experience.

They also had a huge lawn outside the stadium but inside the complex, the lawn had a huge screen with the match being screened which includes the commentary. There were also many No of Food Stalls down below. I never had to wait for more than 5 min to get any of the items I had, let it be samosa, cold coffee, burger or the soft drink, it indeed was very well managed.

around 17th over inspite of being the most ardent fan of RCB I realized unless these was an attack from an alien planet in the DY Patil Stadium nothing could save RCB from losing the match.

Borrowed a phone from a police offer can gave a call to Lucky, the person who was suppose to come with my mobile and camera near Ramdev hotel. I called him and started jogging towards the hotel, I had to again call the Cab and make sure he was there ready to take me to the airport. I got to the Ramdev hotel and find that he is not where to be seen, there was a PCO there, so again tried to call him the the lady on the phone says he is not reachable :( . tried repeatedly only to find him standing a lil far, he said he was near the stadium, and came here looking for me.

I thanked him, paid him Rs. 200 and started calling Easy cab and trying to locate my cab and what do I hear, You are caller No 8, I was calling from both my mobile, was looking a lil odd with two phones on both my ear. I decided that I cant get the Easy cab guy to boarded the normal yellow black taxi and just as we started I got a call from the cab person.  He was like I’ve been trying your no for so long …..

Anyways got down, waited for some 15 min and then boarded the easy cab towards Airport. One more confusion, the airline was Air India ( international ) and the destination Bangalore (domestic ) so where do I go, International Airport or Domestic Airport?? Took the No and called AirIndia and confirmed that it was International Airport.

Even there had a really sad Experience, had to run throughout the Airport to board the flight just in time.  ( I’m really tired to writing so long, so that some other day :)

Overall I had one of the most amazing experience and will definitely visit all ( try to visit )9 places where RCB will play next IPL :)

Mumbai Trip Part 2

I was totally pissed off, I just sat down at the end of the Q, I needed water very badly, but by the time I could regain my mind, there was again quite a few people behind me in the line. I could not leave the line and all the way to buy a bottle of water. But I was too tired and without hesitation started asking people for a sip of water from their bottle, until I found a person selling water bottles. He was selling Rs. 10 bottles for Rs. 30, I did not care, I took one, sat down in the road, had some drink and kept that bottle on my head and eyes just to cool them.

   DSCN1532DSCN1531

Then it was another 4 hrs in the new Q, but this time the line was stable, lot of time to talk and many friends made. I met Akshay from Hyd who came along with his wife to see the match and also naveen and suresh who came from kolapur. I was feeling happy as the Q was getting closer and closer. Then Finally I got my ticket,, wow, I was congratulated by about 7 people who knew my story from morning.

  DSCN1534

Another surprise, mobile and cameras are not allowed inside the stadium, What?? what do I do now :) I had no idea me along with Akshay-the guy who came from Hyd to see the match, decided on two thigns, option A – I courier it to my home here in Bangalore, option B – I take a hotel and keep the stuff there. Hotel seemed better, we would start the conversation asking for a cheap room, then asking for 12 hrs, then telling them we need the room for 4 hrs and then asking them if they can just keep the mobile and camera till we are back.

We finally convinced one manager, and decided on Rs. 200. he gave his no and told to call him and he would come near the entrance of the PCO booth.

All done I had one more thing to do, sell those 5 tickets in black to recover some expense Ive made. few of them warned me about the police. I was there seated in that crowd and thinking a way out of it. I cannot excape the cops as there are cops everywhere.

DSCN1535

I thought the best thing was to involve them so that I wont have to fear them. I genuinely went to a cop and told that I have come all the way from bangalore and I had extra tickets with me. I requested them if they someone needed those tickets kindly direct me and showed him the place where I will be standing. I went around and met few more cops and my 50 % work was done. Cops sent the people to me, I had nothing to fear and couple of kids purchased my first 2 tickets for 2 K. I Was starting to smile.

But that also made me think I could sell the other at a higher rate, I was wrong, I could not sell any more tickets, I started moving around, looking for people who wanted tickets. I even shamelessly would go to the people who looked blank asking if they wanted tickets. I was speaking, negotiating, and selling. I was actually becoming a black ticket seller and to be honest  I was becoming good and more shameless as the hour went. I actually was enjoying it.

I sold two more at Rs. 1500 and still had one ticket more to sell. I could not find any more buyers, the stadium was almost full and crowd outside was reduced to just hundreds and everyone there wanted to sell their extra tickets. I met one guy who was offering me Rs. 1500 Tickets for Rs. 1000. I realized that it was too late and sold the last one for Rs. 750.

Rushed inside the stadium and wow what a stadium, I was entering the gate while the roar make it clear that Sachin won the Toss. I did not find any special police protection, but when you approached the gate you had your Q covered by cops on both side.  We had to go through two frisking centres, one metal detector entry and again one more frisking.

They had a box at the frisking centre and they just threw what they think should not be carried, let it me match box, gutka or anything at all. They took my pen and threw it in the box, they did not even bother to look at me. One guy told that his pen was worth Rs. 2000, for which the cop relied that he could either take the pen and go out or throw the pen and get it, it was his choice..

I located my entry point and entered the stadium, and indeed it was amazingly built. Hanging roof, so no pillars, box seats, good infrastructure I felt I was so close to the ground and still had a very very clear view of the entire ground. And one more surprise, most of the people sat in their respective seats :)

Mumbai Trip Part 1

Long Post

This is how it happened, I went to VRL at 2:00 PM, said that I have the ticket for Mumbai for a bus at 3. He asked me for my ticket no, I replied 28, he asked my name, I replied Pavan Kumar, He asked me to show the ID card and I showed him the my driver license, he showed the bus and told me to go ahead. Almost 3 hrs once we started, ( the bus had various pickup points ) there came a family of 5, and they said that my seat belongs to them, I showed my e-ticket and said that it is not possible.

I got down and went to the Booking center to check the same, there he had in his list 5 tickets in the name of Pavan Kumar Jain, I was surprised, I have booked only one, he said no sir, his name is Pavan Kumar Jain and he has 5 tickets pointing at the other guy. So I really did not understand what is happening. Just then the Booking person pointed out something, My ticket was of Sharma Travels and not VRL. ahh this is so so so embarrassing. I was choosing one among them while booking, I though I booked VRL, while I had actually booked Sharma.

But what is really bothering me is the co-incidences, I mean there is another person, who also named Pavan Kumar, who also has Seat No 28, who also is going to Mumbai, who is also going by 3 PM Bus on the same very day, that putt me off, that was too many coincidences..

I ran to Sharma Transport which was nearby, they said that bus 15 min back and on top of that the lady started shouting at me that being educated how can I make such a mistake, I shot her back saying that coz of being over smart this blunder happened,,, I did not know what to do, I started walking slowly thinking about alternatives, I knew I should not decision now, so was just thinking about it.

I had 6 tickets of IPL that could not be sold as they were I tickets and I have to go to redeem them, I have also booked a midnight flight with Air India flight, so I just decided to book the next available bus.

we stopped around 5-6 AM for tea and I met 4 guys who were going to Nashi which is supposed to be close to the stadium, they said that bus will take an extra 1 1/2 hr by stopping for breakfast and at various stops, they offered me a lift, which I gladly accepted. I did not carry any bags, just two mobile and one camera, I knew they did find anything worth stealing from me, so though was pretty safe.

They were kind enough to drop me to the stadium itself, that was nice, I imd tool the e-tickets and went to the Gate No 1 for redemption, I was couple of hours before the stipulated time but I already saw a decent crowd. there were 5 windows, one for Rs. 2000 / Rs. 1500 & Rs. 5000 Tickets, one for Rs. 400 & Rs. 500 and one for Rs. 700 & Rs. 800. I did not find any poster ( when I say poster, it is an A4 sheet pasted few days back, half torn ), so someone said it can be all combine, but since I did see anything else, I decided to wait in the 1000 plus Q.

 DSCN1517 DSCN1518

4 Hrs, that is exactly the time I took to reach the counter, coz the counter opened late, then they did not have the list, then they did not have the tickets. I was feeling horrible, the sun was beating down hard, My t-shirt was all sweaty and my pockets were heavy, had two mobile in one pocket and a camera in another.  the crowd went on increasing, but there were no cops to manage them, there were was a long Q and as a result too many people barging in between. We had few of them create a human chain just to avoid people barging in. The crowd became unbearable as I reached the counter, It was just crushing. for a moment I thought I would actually faint.

 DSCN1527DSCN1523

I was came to the counter, gave my e-tickets, they asked me for the ID, I could not reach my pocket, I requested a person behind to take out my wallet and hand it over to me, my ID was checked and then they say they dont have 1000 rupee tickets and I should wait for some time. He then did something which I still hate it, He called out for people with 1500 ticket and told me to wait aside. That fool in that small window had no idea that there are thousands of people pushing and fighting just to come close that window. people again barged in, while I was holding tight to the grill of the ticket counter. The tickets came, he was tearing my share  of tickets and I feel a hand pull me out.

It was the cop, dark, fat belly, he pulled me out for entering in between the line, I tried to explain him that I was there in the Q from morning in that heat, without water, without anything down my throat travelling all the way from Bangalore. But he did not care. There were few more people telling him that I was in the Q, but again he did not care, I got really frustrated, I stood there while he was pushing and I resented and I said Iam not leaving without my tickets, I paused and pleaded in really desperate tone explaining him that I was there in that q from morning. For which he replied in sarcasm that he does not care, and pushed me again.. He pushed my till the end of the Q.

Moving my Accommodation

My Owners are coming back and this means I have to shift from my existing Fully Furnished Flat to a new Apartment.

I have been searching flats for few days now and i find the real estate has really picked up, there is no decent flat at the same rates they were 6 months ag0 – I should not be complaining as Iam also selling my flat at a diff rate than what I sold 6 months back :P

However, I have been travelling to Vithola, Mantri Paradise, Mantri Residency, Ajmera, L & T ( all on Bannergatta Road ), I am not interested in Mantri Elegance, Elite, Shoba etc etc ( actually I cant afford them :) )

Finally, I have chosen two flats, but been spending sleepless nights on these two infact me and vanitha are going on discussing on the pros & cons of these two flats till early morning.

One is a Duplex Pent House, Fully Furnished, Nicely done, all equipments in house with a private terrace and all inclusive 18K, but at old apartment complex, WOW thats a steal and advance only 50K….

The Other a Ground Floor Flat, amazing apartment complex, huge pools, state of art gym & Club Facility ok ok flat and Semi Furnished Flat at Rs. 14k and 140k advance…

I like the Duplex House , I agree it is much higher but in exchange we will get pay only 50K advance which means I will have 1lac at my disposal which can again fetch me about 15-20k per year( typical Marwadi Thinking ), Vanitha on the other hand is bothered about the 18k rent and to add that the extra that maid will collect for this huge house, she says we will stay in a semi furnished home and buy the stuff like TV, Washing Machine etc etc

Vanitha likes the other flat which we think can be negotiated for 13k, as I said earlier, large pools, calm, nice club with children play area n stuff, but it is on ground floor and you can see no human species from there :P as it is on the other side n I feel it is lil far, infact the distance from the gate to the flat is about 250 meters :) and then you do not have ready access to bus stand or the stores nearby, but the project is very very beautiful

Now Both Confused

Pictures of Geet

I know everybody is waiting for the pictures of Geet, Actually I have all ready and uploaded them, but then just thought of showing Vanitha first before publishing them. She hardly gets time for herself after all the household chores and Geet’s routine, so forget about reading this blog, may be one day when Geet is lil older, Vanitha can take some time and read the past I mean the Posts:)

Another Issue is with the Copyrights, I dont want the pictures to be used everywhere as before n after picture for Clefts, I mean Iam happy to share them with others, but want people to take my permission so that I know where exactly these pictures are used and where are they used.

So may be in a day or two will upload the pictures

Silly Moment

This happened the day we landed in UK, the apartment we stayed did not have any keys, there were lobby Security Code and the Door Security Code.

When we came in we decided to heat the water to prepare the milk for Geet, but we could not find the Matchbox to light the Hob. I knew this was one of those which lights on its own, but we could not get it to light.

So I decided to buy a matchbox and come back, went about asking for directions to a place where I can buy one,  crossed the street, the river ( yes there is a river Chelmer flowing in the heart of Chelmsford ) finally reached a store called Wilkinson.

I asked the staff there for a match box, for which she replied “We do have one but not just the match box, it will also contain the match sticks”  hmm, I said that’s what I wanted to purchase, I purchased that for 5o penns and was on my way back to the apartment, entered the loby code and…. the door did not open :(

I was standing outside the Apartment Lobby, in that freezing cold and no way to reach Vanitha ( she had the phone ) I tried various combinations, but nothing helped. Right below our apartment was a Tatoo Saloon, big huge showroom, I decided to ask him for his help.

I went in and asked the big guy If I could make one call as I was stuck outside and forgotten the code, he called his boss, who was a frail man with long hair and Tatoo allover, I again requested him and explained him the situation, he then allowed me to make a call, Spoke to Vanitha and told her to tell me the code or come and open the lobby door, she then came down and opened the door :)

I was explaining the entire journey and she was still staring at that match box, when I asked her what was the matter, she asked me making a weird face  “ what is in this match box that you paid Rs. 40/-” he he this is what happens when you convert everything in Rupees :)

Monika , Ritesh & Friends

I always believed in helping others ( also trying to that with this blog ) but lately loads of guidance and help from fellow bloggers, friends, Doctors across the world was a real eye opener.

Just when I thought this is one amazing helpful globe we have, we came across Monika ,Ritesh & Manju. Manju was not feeling well but still she was very helpful in whatever information I got from her.

This all started from Orkut, I have been sending mails to various organisations, samajas, trust etc etc just for some guidance in UK. This was our first visit and we wanted some phone no or name with us whom we could call if we needed anything.

I even traced down a Jain Samaj in Chelmsford / Essex, but was very disappointed that I did not hear anything from them. Probably they though I was looking for some aid, but I did not want anything from them.

During all this searching I came across one Community in Orkut, and again shooted mails to them, I got response from two of them, Manju & Monika. They were very helpful in giving the local info, the taxi cost, the hotels & stores nearby, the phones, etc etc, co-incidentally they also worked in the same Broomfield Hospital. No matter how much you google, nothing can replace a local person’s practical street knowledge.

23rd when we landed & I had my silly moment ( will write about that later ) seeing that Geet was asleep both me & geet were deep in sleep in two corners of the pretty large sofas, we were so tired and the Jetlag n all. In deep sleep I received a call on my Local UK Sim Card. It was Ritesh, I had never heard this name before so was confused, he later told that he was Monika’s Husband. They greeted and we spoke and later he asked if it was Ok to visit us. Ok? we are always glad when someone visit us, and someone visiting us in Chelmsford, nothing better :)

But again we both went to sleep, another call made us realise that have actually come to visit, a quick fix cleaning of the flat and we invited them, They had Drinking Water, Juice, Milk and something else. It was very nice to meet them, they both work in recovery section in the Hospital. They met Geet and we were more than relieved that we had someone to call for help if we needed any.

Geet was taken care by Monika after the Surgery, the first one to see her open her eyes.

Next few days they got us home cooked foods to the Hospital, Parathas, Roti, etc, another 4 cans of water, juices, Toys & Gifts for Geet, their Phone calling card, their spare Sim card and even dropped & picked us up to the Hospital. We were just overwhelmed and sometimes even embarrassed with the hospitality shown by them. It was a pity that we could not meet Rithika, but we shall see them next time around.

They would always say that if there is anything there we just have to call them and they would come, that I think was the best thing they could give us, a sense of support in an alien land.

There were few more like Mr. Kannan who came all the way from London to meet us and again as I said earlier Manju who could not meet us as they were suffering some infection but promised to meet us next time they come.

Thank You guys, thank you for all the support
