Passports

One of the most important revelations in the Passport Office is the facility of Online Appointment. I mean what can be better than that, you have been a specified time to visit the office and handover your papers. I had my appointment at 9:18 , Vanitha 9:19 & Geet at 9:21.

We were there at 8:30 AM only to be surprised that there were about atleast 150 members already waiting. I did not know which line belonged where, it was all so confusing.. I was trying to find out which Q should we stand as Vanitha was with Geet. I approached couple of constables at the entrance and they told me to wait and that we will have to enter the Main Building.

9:00 Office opens and I guess almost all the Employees entered the Office between 8:45 to 9:00 AM :) . At 9, the constables checked our online appointment papers and sent us in.

The Office is very very spacious and most surprising thing was the board outside & inside the office, it read “ Agents are strictly not allowed ” and the next line said “ If found will be handed over to the Police” Wow :)

Once inside the Person in Counter No 1 called all those who are with babies. That was very unexpected but I was extremely pleased by the courtesy shown by them. This person duty was only to check if the papers, documents, affidavits are all in accordance or not. So me & Vanitha with Geet gave our application, he saw my Employment letter, removed it and said this will not do, next was letter from my bank confirming my add and then my dad’s Gas Connection Voucher. That’s it, it was enough for me, same for Vanitha too. They had no issues with the Form as I had filled it to perfection and carried two copies ( change of names & change of add )

They collected the papers and told to wait, later the Main Officer called us, he again checked & signed on all documents which we gave, signed it ,handed over the passport and told us to visit the Passport Officer while they took the additional form of mine and told that there will be a police verification for me ( change of name ).

15 min from the time we entered in we were then directed to the Main Officer’s cabin which was at the Opp end. All three of us went there, we entered the cabin & I requested her to make our passports a bit early as we had to travel aboard, blah blah, she interrupted me and said that Passports will be dispatched in 3 days.

I was like, what? she again said 3 days is fine for you? I said absolutely fine and thanked her. We were now suppose to pay the Fees for the Passports. It costed us Rs. 7,100/- Mine & Vanitha Passport Rs. 1000 each + Tatkal Rs. 1500 each and for Geet Rs. 600 + 1500. ( later I realized all tatkal passports take only 3-4 days :P )

A pretty small Q to pay the charges and collect the Acknowledgement. That’s it

That’s it,  Our Passports were done, No Bribes, No Waiting, No Major Ques, It was so refreshing to see a Govt Office work like this, showing Courtesy to ladies & Kids, understanding the situation, first time I felt great coming out of a Govt Office and was so dam pleased with the service. In about 40 Mins everything was done :)

Bangalore Passport Office Rocks :)

Some Tips :-

  1. Please take a help of the Agent- maximum to fill the form & nothing else.
  2. Take Online Appointment
  3. Try to take Appointment in the morning, you are fresh, they are fresh all good
  4. For Kids, make sure you have the Birth Certificate – Must
  5. Take a Stamp Pad with you ( for fingerprints of minor )
  6. Keep two photo copies of all Originals with you, you never know if they need another copy
  7. Carry extra copies of your photographs
  8. Understand your requirement and what is required for that, for some passport issues like spouse name in passport – you may have to get Affidavits , or marriage Certificates, etc
  9. Dont Argue – they cannot bend the rules for you – I saw many trying to convince them, but they wont budge, it will not matter to them, if your tickets are booked or anything else.
  10. Thank them – Not mandatory, but I personally went to all the departments and thanked them :) they will feel good when you acknowledge their work and motivate them :)

Bribes Bribes Bribes

Everywhere Bribe, Every Office Bribe, Iam so fedup, just feel like stopping this project midway and say that I will not pay a single penny, do what you want to…. But I cant do that, Flats sold, it has to be handed over to the Owners as soon as possible.

This week I have to make Labour Payments to 3 Contractors and Bribe to 4 Govt agencies. Then how do you expect the development to happen here when every office you knock asks for money.

It is no surprise that Karnataka is the 4th Most Corrupt State in India.

I have not paid a single penny in my other firm, but in this construction field every department in Govt can halt your work with any silly reason.  and I have ran out of both money and patience to keep all their queries to rest.

After 3 Projects in TN, One in AP and One in Rajeshtan, this was our first in proper Bangalore and trust me, we will think 10 times before starting the next one here.

LDR & LDRP

Many readers sending mails asking about LDR & Sometimes LDRP, well here is the difference between the two :-

LDR – Labour, Delivery, Recovery

LDRP – Labour, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum

Basically it means what are the suites capable of, I mean in the first case, the same room can be used for Labour, for delivery & for Recovery so till that there is not moving around from one room to the other, in the second case even Postpartum is there, it means after recovery you can stay there & move out only when you go back home, no need to shift you again to Pvt room / deluxe room etc., My God how lazy we have become :P

So next time any hospital tries to sell you anything, you know exactly what it means as this is different from Luxury rooms or Pvt rooms or whatever they call. Also please make a note of how many such LDR / LDRP rooms are available, not that they have only 2 –3 and it is booked the day you come :)

Being a Parent is not easy

Just Weird & loads of fun

I had been to Hyderabad for my friend’s brother’s wedding, n it was a series of weird things happening, but nevertheless was a lot of fun

First, the Tickets were taken in two groups, I was a late confirmer so 6 passengers one ticket, and my ticket alone in some other coach, no issues we thought we will get it changed

One got cancelled, & the remaining 4 including me somehow made it to the Yeshwanthpur Railway Station just 20 min before the train left

The entire train was AC and still it was called Garib Rath :S

The couple of friends who some known reason did not plan their time well and ended up missing the Train

Now the Good part – The couple of friends who missed the Train have all our tickets :)

The Best Part – out of 4 who are travelling without tickets, two of them do not even have Id Proofs :P

So we were 4 guys, with no tickets, and couple of them no proper ID proof and boarded the All Ac Train which is called Garib Rath :P – and hoping the TT does not tell us to get down in the next station – as it was Hindupur some 100 km away from Bangalore

The Whole night was a blast, we hardly allowed the couple of guys ( lower birth ) to sleep, there was travelling all the coaches in search of the Canteen ( which we later realized was not there in that train at all ), there was some stupid music at middle of the night including Hawa Hawa songs, some stealing Bedsheets and pouring water on one another, man little did I realise that each one of the 4 well settled and so called Grown up were behaving like kindergarten kids.

Wait this is not it….

The Train is painfull slow and took about 12 hrs to reach Hyderabad, my friends purchased a Cig at middle of night with some guy in some station for Rs. 20 ( one cig). The Taxi who was suppose to pick us up was there at 5:30 Am at the station, he would speak only Telugu and none of us knew that and kept on calling us till we reached at 9.30 Am.

And the weirdest of all – You will not believe this on our way back to hotel, we say a guy riding a two wheeler with a Tooth brush in his mouth. Eeeks, in Cars I have seen people shave but toothbrush and two wheeler?? – still don;t belive me? check this out :-

The Bride was the daughter of a very popular Telegu Director, but I did not expect it would be this grand, first view n I realised this was no ordinary wedding, coz there were nearly 20 valet parking drivers waiting to take our car,  Almost everyone from the Tollywood, Stars like Chiranjevi, Venkatesh, Prakash Raj, Allu Arjun, Ministers and many many more had come, It was a nice wedding and the entire stage was designed like a Doli – Cute. They also had bouncers at every row and had strict Security check at the gate.

IMG00553

The Bouncers kept blocking the View

IMG00550

We went to the Pan Showroom – never seen that – I dont eat pans, but thought lets taste one – One of the Friend, had made a special pan for someone else n I ended up having that, It was suppose to be Sweet Pan – atleast it was told that way – I had it and waited for the sweet to ooze out, but it was getting bitter n bitter, confused thinking may be special pan, little did I realise it was filled with all the Zarda, in spiteof spitting it, and having plenty of water, My hiccups just would not stop.

 IMG00549

I only stayed for another day, my friends stayed back for couple of days more, I flew back the next day – but it was nice two days – a good break from my routine :)

Passports for New Born

Since I had decided to head to US or UK as the preference for the Surgery I had to be ready with the Passports. This was one of the reason I insisted the name of Geet to be mentioned in the Birth Certificate, so that there is no issue with that.

I was planning for Passport but little did I realize that what I have been postponing for a long time actually struck me hard. My first passport was done in 1996 – 7 where I travelled with the School to Singapore & Malaysia. Those days I knew nothing about it, and the Travel Agent had written my name as PaWan instead of PaVan.

The Passport was done, and they told me that change will not be possible, they can do it later once Iam back. That passport  expired after 10 yrs and I got a new one for me & Vanitha two years back even there I was planning for an abroad trip and same thing, thought will get the name change done at a future date, let the passport come.

Now I realize that for my Visa I have to show all my Financial Details, and everything else says PaVan with a ‘V’ and not ‘W’.  Every month I went on postponing the alteration in the passport and now I had to pay the price for my negligence. Now I have License, My Election Card, My Marks Cards, My Bank Account, My Business everything has PaVan – and it will be as it was my real name.

And one more thing, we moved our residence after purchasing a nice home,  So now even Add had to be changed.

The reason I was getting more n more irritated is that they would not consider changing W to V as alteration but a complete change of name :( , common Iam not changing to Pavan to Suresh or something…. n Change of name  had its own procedures :(   so now :-

  • Pavan – Change if Name, Change of Add
  • Vanitha – Change of Husband’s name & Change of Add
  • Geet – Fresh Passport & in that Father’s changed name and New add of the parents.

Now what is checklist for Geet’s / Minor’s Passport?

  1. Passport Photographs – Imp, Ears to baby to be visible :)
  2. Birth Certificate – Most Important & Mandatory
  3. Name of the Baby – Best thing is to have the name in the Birth Certificate itself, it becomes an official record.
  4. Passports of Parents – ( just for ID proof & Add Proof )
  5. Rs. 600/- for a Fresh Passport for a minor
  6. Bangalore Passport Office : http://rpobangalore.gov.in/
  7. Bangalore One Collection Centre : http://www.bangaloreone.gov.in/public/rpo-info.aspx

& Some Gyan from the Passport Resources Website

Additional Documents Required in Case of Minor’s Passport:

  1. Attested Photocopies of first four and last four pages of valid Passport, if any, of at least one parent in which the other parent’s name is entered OR photocopies of application fee receipt in case parents’ passports are under process at Regional Passport Office, Delhi. Parent’s passport should have the same address as that in the minor’s application in the Present Address column.
  2. An affidavit by both parents giving their consent to the issue of a passport to their minor child as per specimen in Annexure ‘M’ .  If one of the parents of the minor applicant is abroad, an affidavit conveying his/her No Objection to issue of passport to the minor, countersigned by the authorized officer in the Indian Mission abroad should be furnished.
  3. If the minor applicant is solely in the care of a single parent an affidavit should be submitted as per specimen at Annexure ‘K’ .
  4. In case of legally divorced parents, the order from the competent court ordering the the custody of the child is required to be attached to the application unless the divorce decree itself contains the order pertaining to the custody of the child.
  5. In case of separated but not divorced parents, an affidavit as per specimen in Annexure ‘H’ to be submitted by the parent applying for minor child’s passport.
  6. If the minor applicant is in the care of legal guardian then sworn affidavits as per specimens at Annexure ‘C’ and Annexure ‘D’ respectively should be furnished.
  7. Birth certificate/School certificate towards proof of date of birth and name of parents.
  8. In case one of the parents is a foreigner and an Indian passport is required for their minor child,in addition to the birth certificate, both parents’ passport copies and both parents’ consent as per specimen in Annexure M, the parents would also be required to furnish a certificate from the Embassy of the country to which the foreign parent belongs certifying that neither any application has been made for passport to the minor nor has the minor been issued any passport by that country.
  9. In Adoption cases: In the case of an adopted child, application should be submitted by the adopting parent(s) alongwith Adoption Deed duly executed under the Hindu Adoption and Maintenance Act 1956 and registered with the Registrar. In the case of Muslims, Christians and Sikhs, the adoption may be executed under the provisions of the Guardianship and Wards Act, 1980. A court order in respect of guardianship and permitting the child to be taken out of the country is necessary for issuing the passport. For children adopted from Orphanages / Charitable institutions, the order of the competent Court granting custody of the child to the adopting parent(s) is also required to be furnished alongwith the application.

Relax – All looks very difficult, but actually it is not :)

Congratulations Again

Congratulations to Archut for a healthy Son :)

And hoping she would recover pretty soon from the C-section

Plastic Surgeon 1 Ruled Out

Last time I had told you about Dr. Cutting, as per the experts say, you cannot have a better surgeon to do this Cleft Surgery. He is at New York Medical Centre and his before n after surgery pictures proves why people think he is the best.

He along with his team of Ms. Rose Maries, Dr. Shelly, Dr. Barry Grayson ( the Inventor of NAM ) is again believed to be the best possible Cleft Team available.

All through out the conversation they were very helpful, Shelly specifically shared all the info on how the baby needs to be fed and how to care of Cleft Babies.

The Charges were discussed and I found that I could not afford the Surgery. I would not say it is the most expensive in the world and If it was one Surgery, I would have gone ahead but in my case I will have to do 2 or 3 surgeries and that is why I cannot afford the same.

I even offered him to come down to India, and I would make all the travel Arrangements, Accommodations, Hospital Charges and also pay his surgical charges, but that did not work out.

I did feel sorry for a while, but then, what is not possible is not possible, there is no point in thinking about it. I made a promise to Geet that the Last Plastic Re-constructive Surgery will be done by the best in the world, as I will have sufficient time to make financial arrangements :)
