Passports for New Born

Since I had decided to head to US or UK as the preference for the Surgery I had to be ready with the Passports. This was one of the reason I insisted the name of Geet to be mentioned in the Birth Certificate, so that there is no issue with that.

I was planning for Passport but little did I realize that what I have been postponing for a long time actually struck me hard. My first passport was done in 1996 – 7 where I travelled with the School to Singapore & Malaysia. Those days I knew nothing about it, and the Travel Agent had written my name as PaWan instead of PaVan.

The Passport was done, and they told me that change will not be possible, they can do it later once Iam back. That passport  expired after 10 yrs and I got a new one for me & Vanitha two years back even there I was planning for an abroad trip and same thing, thought will get the name change done at a future date, let the passport come.

Now I realize that for my Visa I have to show all my Financial Details, and everything else says PaVan with a ‘V’ and not ‘W’.  Every month I went on postponing the alteration in the passport and now I had to pay the price for my negligence. Now I have License, My Election Card, My Marks Cards, My Bank Account, My Business everything has PaVan – and it will be as it was my real name.

And one more thing, we moved our residence after purchasing a nice home,  So now even Add had to be changed.

The reason I was getting more n more irritated is that they would not consider changing W to V as alteration but a complete change of name :( , common Iam not changing to Pavan to Suresh or something…. n Change of name  had its own procedures :(   so now :-

  • Pavan – Change if Name, Change of Add
  • Vanitha – Change of Husband’s name & Change of Add
  • Geet – Fresh Passport & in that Father’s changed name and New add of the parents.

Now what is checklist for Geet’s / Minor’s Passport?

  1. Passport Photographs – Imp, Ears to baby to be visible :)
  2. Birth Certificate – Most Important & Mandatory
  3. Name of the Baby – Best thing is to have the name in the Birth Certificate itself, it becomes an official record.
  4. Passports of Parents – ( just for ID proof & Add Proof )
  5. Rs. 600/- for a Fresh Passport for a minor
