One of my friend spoke highly about a Gynecologist in Manipal Clinic in Jayanagar, since it is a bit closer to my place we thought to give it a visit, one of the bigger draw back for us staying in Bannergatta Road is that the road which leads to Manipal Clinic is always Jammed in Traffic. We did reach there and found the list of Gynecologist and also the name which our friend mentioned.
I requested the receptionist to show me around, she told that lift was not working and made us walk to the first floor not that I mind but Vanitha had some pain, anyways we went there, the Private Room was pretty small, there was one chair next to it which can be folded as a bed ( a very small bed ), the bathroom was attached.
Then I insisted to have a look at the Birthing Suite, sightly bigger than the Private Room, there was only one Birthing Suite in the entire clinic and right next to that was the Delivery Room ( again only one ). I asked the nurse if there were more than one delivery at the same time how would you manage, since they had only one Delivery Room, she was quick to point out that they use the birthing suite in that case.
So basically there was only one delivery room and the birthing suite next to that will be used if there was a need for another delivery, and I asked what happens if we book the Birthing Suite and at that time there are two deliveries, she had some answer about patient management ( some thing like, we will do here and then shift her there , then , then ) anyways it was not very comforting,
We were asked to enquire about the package cost at the billing section, the person was polite and gave us the cost which was the most shocking, a C section there would cost Rs. 80,000 and Normal Delivery for Rs. 65,000 in Birthing Suite and Rs. 60,000 and Rs. 45,000 for Private Room, this includes the charges for just 3 days. This does not include any Consultations or Scans, infact a Consultation would cost Rs. 300 and a Scan Rs. 750. and the C Section you can stay there only for 3 days compared to 5 days in all other maternity hospitals.
This was way too high, Common, When Wockhardt is Charging 67K for a Birthing Suite which is 10 times better than Manipal and it also includes all Consultations and Scans and Tests from Second Trimester till Delivery, infact Manipal is as expensive as Cradle but not as attractive.

Hello Geeta ,
I was referring to the Malati Manipal Hospital next to Big Bazaar – was there another Manipal in 9th Block? Wonderful.. I have added your blog to my bookmarks and share it with all my colleagues and friends..
This Manipal Jayangar is useless hospital they are meant for looting money for a normal hospitalization with malaria was charged for a whopping amount of 50000. They have shoddy treatment and the support staff suck . The bills are inflated here .Think about a lot before you go here. If you are insured they just go on inflating the bills.
hi,
my wife is first time pregnant and we are confused between Apollo and Manipal. I have experience about Apollo but not with Manipal hospital Can any1 assure me where to go for a proper delivery where they treat us as a person instead of a walking wallet . How are the services in Manipal ? Please Help.
Hi Manish,
I had bad experience in Apollo ( not for my wife’s pregnancy, but some other reason ) and I did not like them one bit.
Regarding Manipal, are you referring Malathi Manipal?, I have been there couple of times to visit the Dermatologist, it does boast of good Gyn, but I think you will have to relook at the facilities they offer.
